"Priority to Service"
The Nallur Divisional Secretariat is located in the southern part of the Jaffna Peninsula, near the city of Jaffna. To the north, it is bordered by the Valikamam South (Uduvil) and Valikamam East (Kopay) Divisional Secretariats. To the east, it is bounded by the Valikamam East (Kopay) and Thenmaradchi Divisional Secretariats. To the south, the Jaffna Divisional Secretariat and the Jaffna Lagoon are situated. Meanwhile, the Valikamam South-West (Sandilipay) Divisional Secretariat forms its western boundary. Extending from the southeast to the northwest, this area covers 34 square kilometers. The Nallur Divisional Secretariat office is located on Point Pedro Road. This division comprises 40 Grama Niladhari (G.N.) divisions. According to the 1981 census, the population of the Nallur division was 81,472; an annual population growth rate of 1.35 percent was observed between 1981 and 1991.
Prior to the displacement that occurred in October 1995, 92,056 people belonging to 22,947 families resided in the Nallur area. According to a recent survey, 67,716 people belonging to 21,963 families currently reside there.
